Ryoji Ikeda (b. in Gifu, Japan in 1966; lives and works in Paris and Kyōto) is one of the world’s leading sound and media artists. His often large-format light and sound installations have caused numerous international sensations (e.g. 2018 Centre Pompidou, Paris; 2018 Eye Filmmuseum, Amsterdam; 2015 ZKM Karlsruhe; 2014/15 Minsheng Art Museum, Shanghai).
“Who am I? How do others see me? Who do I want to be?” Especially during puberty, the question of one’s own identity gains in importance. For the first time, the Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg is enabling young people to conceive their own exhibition on this theme. The museum’s curatorial and research assistants have developed an exhibition program together with young people between the ages of fourteen and seventeen.
Whether it is his photographic works, digital animations, performances, wall pieces, or works on paper, the core of Robin Rhode’s multimedia oeuvre is the drawing, the line. Born in Cape Town in 1976 and raised in Johannesburg, he first studied art at the Technikon Witwatersrand, now the University of Johannesburg, followed by a postgraduate program at the South Africa School of Film, Television and Dramatic Arts in 2000.
